Bald geht’s los!
Hallo zusammen
Wir möchten uns nochmals bei allen entschuldigen, welche zuhause vor dem PC sassen und der Shopöffnung entgegengefiebert haben. Man denkt man man braucht nur einen Klick zu machen…. Und das Unheil nimmt seinen Lauf.
Nun, wir sind wieder bereit und wissen auch, was schief gelaufen ist. Somit sind wir wieder frohen Mutes, dass es am Sonntag, 15. 9. 2024 um 20.00 Uhr klappt.
Wir haben mitbekommen, dass es eine Unsicherheit gibt, was die Anzahl Tickets für das Abendprogramm anbelangt. Hat es Platz für alle ? Da sind wir selber gespannt.
Was wir Euch aber garantieren : Jeder der bis Sonntag um Mitternacht ein Ticket für den Abend bestellt, der bleibt nicht vor der Tür. Deal ?
Es gibt viele coole Artikel, die Ihr dann bestellen und am Eventtag vor Ort abholen könnt. Schaut hinein, stöbert ein wenig herum und unterstützt unseren Event mit einer Bestellung.
Auf unseren Coin sind wir schon ein wenig stolz… der darf in keiner Sammlung fehlen.
Wir sehen heute immer noch viele T-Shirts von unseren Events von 2014/2017 oder 2018 an diversen Veranstaltungen… wo werden wir unser neues 2025 T-Shirt später überall antreffen ?

Meli und Doc-Brown haben für Euch wieder ein Escaperaum gestaltet. Ihr habt 45 Minuten Zeit, um George Paul Signal (GPS) in der Zauberschule Frogwarts aus den Klauen der bösen Macht zu befreien. Es gibt 6 Spielzeiten mit max. 6 Personen.
Wir haben nur wenige Wohnmobilstellplätze zu vergeben. Hier gilt also : schnell sein !
Ihr wollt als Helfer am Event dabei sein ? Dann seid ihr im Shop an der richtigen Adresse. Für Fr. 0.00 könnt Ihr Eure gewünschte Schicht und Aufgabe buchen. Als Dank für eine Schicht von 3 ½ Stunden gibt es ein Helfer T-Shirt, ein Helfercoin und eine Zwischenverpflegung.

New event location!
We were very pleased with your numerous and quick “will attends”! With almost 850 “will attends” we are expecting a lot more visitors than in 2018. Therefore we checked if the casino is still the right location. On the date of our event, an existing reservation in the “Festhalle Rüegerholz” (festival hall) was recently cancelled, so we took the opportunity to change the location. This means we have a larger venue available, which brings us real benefits.
The Rüegerholz festival hall was built in 1921 for the Thurgau Cantonal Singing Festival. In 1982, the hall was converted into a multi-purpose hall and today offers standing space for 3,500 guests at concerts. Sports events such as handball or floorball as well as trade exhibitions also take place in this hall.
We are delighted that we have more space available with this venue and that we will be protected in case of rain. There are 200 parking spaces available directly at the festival hall. Rüegerholz is a short walk distance from the parking lots in the town of Frauenfeld. We also have good news for visitors with dogs: they are allowed in the hall (unlike the casino).
The change of location also means changes to the daily schedule. Details can be found in the revised listing.
Attending the block party is free. However, you can buy an «event pass» that allows you to take part in the games (wheel of fortune, hot wire, battle beam and target throwing). You will have the chance to win a cool “Meeting Friends” drinking bottle as an instant prize.
Following the block party (10:00 to 17:00), there will be a community celebration event in the evening with a dinner and entertainment in the festival hall. Doors open at 17:30. Tickets for participation in this evening event are available in the shop. For organizational reasons, the number of participants is limited. Access for a short visit to the logbook is possible without a ticket. This event will be published at the end of January 2025.
There will be a parking space for our guests with motorhomes. The location has not yet been defined, but it will be about 2 km from the festival hall. You should be self-sufficient, as there will be no supplies or disposal other than a portaloo. Arrival is possible from 18:00 on Friday at the earliest. The number of parking spaces is limited.

We are block party!
Our event has already been upgradet from regular event to block party by HQ in Seattle! Within 4 days you gave us 600 “will attends”, which is twice the required “will attends”. We would never have expected this rocket launch in our 2025 event. We would like to thank each and every one of you for the trust you have placed in us with your “will attend”.
Now you can look forward to the event for a year, and we at Meeting Friends still have a year to prepare the event.
We will keep you up to date with announcements about all important points such as shop openings, mobile home parking spaces, helper requests, registrations for the evening event, etc.

In 2025, geocaching will celebrate it’s 25th birthday. To celebrate this event in a worthy way, Block Parties can be held all over the world. You’ve probably read Groundspeak’s announcement.
Finally the time has come! The listing for the Meeting Friends Birthday Party is published here GCAJRTR.
From today it will be another year until we can all meet in Frauenfeld for this party.
Mark the date April 26, 2025 in your agenda so that you don’t forget it. If you are able to celebrate with us, we recommend to put a “will attend” right now, so you’ll be sure not to miss anything and you’ll always be up to date.
Tell your geocaching friends about this event and the opportunity to get the coveted block party icon while meeting us in Frauenfeld. Once we reach 300 will attends, Groundspeak will upgrade the event to a block party. So don’t miss the opportunity to attend a block party in Frauenfeld. Hooray! There is reason for celebration!
In 2025, geocaching will celebrate it’s 25 Birthday. To celebrate this event in a worthy way, Block Parties can be held all over the world. You’ve probably read Groundspeak’s announcement.
In order to offer all geocachers the opportunity to earn the coveted block party icon by participating in a Block Party in Switzerland, we at Meeting Friends have decided to organize a Block Party for you in Frauenfeld.
On Saturday, April 26, 2025, after seven long years of waiting, we will meet again in the Casino in Frauenfeld for a major geocaching event.
From Groundspeak we have already received approval to publish the event on April 26, 2024. Then we need 300 “will attends” so that the event is upgraded to a Block Party.
In addition to new geocaches, LABs, competitions, games and fun in the Casino and Murgauenpark, there will again be a dinner with entertainment in the great hall of the Casino.
We are already highly motivated in planning and are looking forward to offering you a varied program.
Starting on April 26, 2024 you can place your “will attend” in the listing GCAJRTR. In this way you won’t miss any news!

Dear friends of Meeting Friends
At the end of November 2019 we decided to host another MEGA event in Frauenfeld on October 17, 2020. No one believed that a pandemic could hit us so badly.
For this reason, we could exchange information within the OC only electronically and this was a completely new experience, especially after organizing three MEGAs.
We recently had our first OC meeting and one question was at the top of the agenda:
Will Covid-19 still affect us in October 2020?
We all think that we still have to deal with it in October in some way. All signs point toward normalization, but nobody can tell us what will be then.
Protection concepts must currently be observed for all events. This also includes the social distancing. We think this rule will accompany us in our everyday life for a long time.
Our event location, the Casino Frauenfeld, was a suitable place for the event in 2018. But it is no longer if the landlord’s current protection regulations still apply. Only 40 people are allowed to be in the lower foyer (reception)…. Besides the OC and the helpers, only about 25 guests could be welcomed.
There are many other points to be respected who does not allow an event, as we would like to organise it for us all.
In order to withdraw free of charge of the event location’s contract, we had to make a decision about carrying out the event. If yes, the shop should be opened now.
We very much regret to inform you that we have to cancel the MEGA Event Meeting Friends 2020.
The reasons are:
- In our event location an event with social distancing is not possible.
- An event would not meet your and our ideas of Meeting Friends.
- The OC as private individuals also take the financial risk. We can no longer wait with a final decision, as the date of a free cancellation of the event location expires this week.
We all are very sad to make this decision. But only by taking this measures the event Meeting Friends will be maintained in future. We don’t know when the next MEGA Meeting Friends could take place. We want to wait for further developments first.
But it would be a shame if the work and ideas that had already been done had been in vain.
We ask for your understanding and look forward to meeting you again somewhere else.

Dear friends of our event “Meeting Friends”
At the end of November 2019, the MEGA event “Meeting Friends 2020” kicked off in Australia. The organization of the event started with hundreds of WhatsApp messages, which were sent back and forth over a distance of 16,150 kilometers.
First of all, the same location was booked with the casino as in 2018. So we are back in the center of the city of Frauenfeld and also very well served by public transport.
The event itself will be a small-scale gathering. There will be some new geocaches and some LAB caches. Pins and coins will be exchanged as well. Above all, however, you should meet friends from near and far and consolidate or renew friendships.
The evening is all about dinner and entertainment. Let yourself be surprised. The number of participants is limited to approx. 220 people.
For a few weeks, the planning only ran via WhatsApp and we were already looking forward to the first OC meeting in April. But we cannot hold it because of the Corona Virus, and the planning has now been made more difficult.
Our event is scheduled for the weekend of October 16-18, 2020. We assume that the situation has normalized by then and that we can carry out this event. Nevertheless, we will currently make sure that we make as few decisions as possible that have financial consequences in case of a cancellation.
The shop opening is planned for the Community Celebration Event on May 2nd. It is unlikely that this event can take place. However, we are still waiting for the federal government’s instructions for the period after April 19.
We hope that you all get well through this extraordinary time and that you all come to visit us healthy and cheerful in October in Frauenfeld.

Geocaching has been around for 20 years
For the fourth time, a MEGA event is taking place in Frauenfeld
You have probably heard of the many special promotions that Groundspeak is organizing specifically for its 20th anniversary. This also includes a locationless cache with signal, the frog (GC8FROG). It can only be found and logged at MEGA events.
That is not the only reason why we are holding another MEGA event in Frauenfeld in 2020. We really liked the 2018 event at Casino Frauenfeld. So we decided to invite you back to Frauenfeld on October 17, 2020 and have a nice day together. In the evening there will be another dinner with little entertainment and bingo. After «Ghackets and Hörnli with apple sauce» in 2018, we want to surprise you with something different this time.
The event itself will be free during the day, tickets for dinner will be sold in the internet shop. The shop opens around the beginning of May.
Reserve October 17th, 2020! We are looking forward to being your hosts.
